THE PROCESS

Bespoke jewellery can be daunting, and after 20years in the industry, trust me when I say I have designed some truly unusual pieces! I will guide you through every step, starting with a quick call to talk through your ideas.

During this 30minute chat, we see what sort of ideas you have and how I can help. My goal is always to help facilitate your ideas. In the rare case that I may not be the best fit for your enquiry, I will always endeavour to help you find what you’re looking for else ware.

From this conversation, I aim to understand your budget, time scale, and of course, your intended recipient!

With mood boards and initial sketches, we will start exploring your design. There are no right or wrong answers at this stage. Disliking an idea can be as helpful as liking it as we can fine tune the final design even more! The sketches are hand drawn, and will cover a range of styles for you to consider.

We usually have a final design within the first round of sketches, and with this final idea confirmed, I create what is known as a ‘gouache watercolour illustration’. This is a technical two or three point view design for the manufacturing team to work with. I pride myself in accuracy and this first full illustration of the design is your first chance to see how it will look completed. The artwork is also included in process, meaning you are able to keep the design provenance with the piece forever.

With a final design in hand, and a 50% deposit, its time to get making! I work with the very best goldsmiths so that I can confidently give you a lifetimes warranty. The longevity of my pieces is paramount so we are conscious not to hollow out pieces to reduce metal costs or use low quality gemstones or diamonds. In the jewellery world, if you are paying less you are usually getting less, so although my prices might be higher than what you pay on the high street, they come with an intimate understanding of your piece and a personal interest to ensure they never go wrong.

Without a doubt the reveal is the best part of the process. Much like the initial consultation, this part in the process can take place at my studio, at your home, Soho Farmhouse, or a location more convenient to you. Sometimes I refer to this first look as a ‘fitting appointment’ as there may need to a few final tweaks to optimise the fit of a piece.

Seeing gemstones transformed into dazzling new heirlooms always brings a smile to everyone - including me! It is a pleasure to be able to create these pieces for my clients.
